Following Xaivian Lee News, Skylar Wicks Decommits From Gonzaga
For about 20 hours, the Gonzaga Bulldogs had all 15 roster spots filled for the 2026-27 season after receiving a commitment from Xaivian Lee. But the Zags have to secure at least one more player before their regular-season opener against Purdue on Nov. 2.
Skylar Wicks, who committed to GU in June, is decommitting from the program and reopening his recruitment, per 247Sports’ Dushawn London. The 26-year-old spent last season at Saint Francis and was slated to make Spokane his sixth different stop in the last seven years. However, Lee joining the Bulldogs’ backcourt would’ve directly impacted his minutes, and the 6-6 guard has apparently decided to play his last collegiate season elsewhere.
This isn’t a total surprise, and during one of the most chaotic offseasons in program history, Gonzaga is familiar with needing to act accordingly in addressing its personnel.

NCAA Approves Skylar Wicks' Waiver, 6-6 Combo Guard Eligible For Gonzaga
Even when Skylar Wicks committed to the Gonzaga Bulldogs in late June, there was reasonable doubt about whether he would actually don a Zags uniform.
The Saint Francis transfer was seeking a seventh season of eligibility, with GU slated as the sixth school of Wicks’ career. But the 6-6 guard recently received great news concerning his status for another year of collegiate basketball.
First reported by Dushawn London of 247Sports.com, the NCAA approved the 26-year-old’s waiver last Tuesday, officially adding an experienced, shot-creating guard with rebounding prowess to the Bulldogs’ backcourt.
Gonzaga Brings in Saint Francis Transfer Skylar Wicks, Strengthen Wing Depth
Last season, the wings on Gonzaga’s roster held things together.
Whether it was Jalen Warley being a Swiss Army knife, Tyon Grant-Foster providing timely moments on both ends, or Davis Fogle stepping up with clutch shotmaking as a freshman, this position group played a huge role in the Zags going 31-4.
Only Fogle remains from that cluster, and incomers Isiah Harwell and Luca Foster figure to fill in as well, but GU supplemented its wing personnel after landing 6-6 transfer Skylar Wicks from Saint Francis. He becomes the third traditional transfer addition of the offseason for Gonzaga, and its eighth different incoming player.
The 26-year-old has followed a collegiate tenure similar to that of Grant-Foster, raising questions about his eligibility status for next season. But if all goes well, Wicks brings valued experience and scoring prowess at all three levels to the Bulldogs.
