While the Seattle Kraken welcomed two of their top veterans back to action, they had another one absent from Tuesday’s practice as they continue to deal with injuries during training camp leading up to the start of a new season.

The Seattle Kraken fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Calgary Flames at Climate Pledge Arena on Monday, but one of their top young players continued to impress in his second training camp.

The Seattle Kraken whittled down their training camp roster significantly on Saturday, sending 20 players to the Coachella Valley Firebirds, their AHL affiliate.

It was only the first day of training camp on Thursday, but it appears the Kraken will be granting two of their top young prospects every opportunity to earn a spot on the opening night roster for the 2025-26 season.

Heading into the 2025-26 season with a new coaching staff, the Kraken will be counting on big steps forward from Matty Beniers and recently re-signed Kaapo Kakko to elevate the play of an otherwise aging forwards group.

Though the Kraken will miss the postseason for the third time in four seasons as a franchise, a young team put a silver lining on the 2024-25 campaign by putting their rivals’ playoff odds on ice in blowout fashion. Is it a sign of things to come for the future?
