Washington Lands Top-100 Guard Ze'Ni Patterson to Open 2027 Class
The Washington Huskies’ women’s basketball program landed their first recruit of the 2027 class. Ze'Ni Patterson, a guard prospect out of San Jose, California, is the No. 86-ranked player in her class, according to ESPN’s rankings.
Head coach Tina Langley secured Patterson’s commitment over Michigan State, TCU, Harvard and Cal, which rounded out her top five along with Washington.
This marks the seventh straight year Langley has earned a commitment from a top-100 recruit. With star guard Sayvia Sellers likely heading to the WNBA after this season, Patterson should have an opportunity to come in and play meaningful minutes right away.

Coming off an NCAA tournament berth this past March, the Washington Huskies women’s basketball team has a chance to be the best in program history this upcoming season with most of last year’s squad returning and more than enough talent to earn the right to host an NCAA tournament game for the first time since 2017.
While the season doesn’t start until November, the Huskies’ roster has begun to take shape. Tina Langley and her staff currently have 12 players committed to playing next year, leaving three spots available. They might choose to not fill every spot, given Washington only carried 14 players on its roster last year.

UW Extends Huskies WBB Coach Tina Langley Through 2031-32 season
The University of Washington and women’s basketball head coach Tina Langley have agreed to a landmark six-year contract extension worth $7.1 million, the school announced on Thursday.
With the new deal, Langley will be under contract with the Huskies through the 2031-32 season. The school locked down the coach who has brought the women’s program immense success over the last few seasons.

The No. 6-seeded University of Washington women’s basketball team was on the precipice of a massive upset before surrendering its 10-point lead, allowing No. 3 TCU to force overtime and eventually end the Huskies’ season in a 62-59 second-round loss to the Horned Frogs on Sunday, March 22, at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Had the Huskies won, they would’ve advanced to their first Sweet 16 since the 2016-17 season and just their second since 1994-95.
Fresh off a dominant first-round victory over No. 11 South Dakota State, the Huskies were hoping to pursue a historic season. Instead, UW finished its season 22-11 overall in heartbreaking fashion.

A year after blowing a 13-point halftime lead for a quick NCAA Tournament exit, the Washington women’s basketball team overcame a slow start to overwhelm South Dakota State, 72-54, in the first round Saturday at TCU’s Schollmaier Arena.
One key ingredient to Washington’s first-round win this season was sophomore Avery Howell, who helped USC reach the Final Four last year. Howell, a 6-foot sophomore, led the Huskies (22-10) with 30 points and nine rebounds. Her seven made 3-point shots and Washington’s tenacious defense carried the sixth-seeded Huskies to the second round, where they will face No. 3-seed TCU on Sunday.
