Which 2025 Seahawks Games Should Be on Prime Time?
The 2025 NFL schedule will be released in its entirety Wednesday evening. Leaks have been coming through here and there, but no one will see the full picture for just over 24 hours still.
Primetime games are always a focal point of the schedule release. Fans always want to know how many games their team will play in the premier time slots of Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football.
For the last two seasons, the Seahawks have had four primetime games. Which four games on the 2025 slate might be put into a primetime slot this time? Let’s pick two home games and two on the road to try and guess which ones will be primetime.
vs. Rams
Usually, the Seahawks have at least one primetime game against an NFC West rival. It usually has been the San Francisco 49ers. However, the 49ers went through a rough patch last year. They went 6-11 after being ravaged by injuries. Meanwhile, the Rams won the NFC West, despite having the same record as Seattle at 10-7. These were the two best teams in the division last year. There is a scenario where that is true again in 2025. If the NFL is going to put the best teams in the NFC West on display in prime time, it should be one of the games between the Seahawks and Rams, and Cooper Kupp getting an opportunity to beat his former team puts the cherry on top.
vs. Vikings
This one is kind of a no-brainer. Quarterback Sam Darnold had a renaissance season with Minnesota before leaving in free agency and signing with Seattle. The question everyone wants to know this year is, who is the real Sam Darnold? Whatever version of Darnold the Seahawks are getting, he certainly will be determined to stick it to his old team, who didn’t bring him back when they had the chance and moved forward with J.J. McCarthy. Seattle could benefit from him wanting to make Minnesota pay for that decision. The storylines are too juicy for it to not be a prime time game at Lumen Field.
at Commanders
The Commanders will be a trendy Super Bowl favorite this year and will likely get a slew of prime time games. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is coming off of perhaps the greatest rookie season by a quarterback in NFL history. Washington made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles. Everyone wants to know what he will do for an encore in his sophomore season. The Seahawks would be a good test for the Commanders offense. Seattle expects to have one of the better defenses in the league. Mike Macdonald and company could cook up a gameplan to try and limit Daniels and his weapons. That would make for good theater.
at Steelers
If there is a matchup with an AFC team that would bring enough eyeballs to merit a prime time game, it’s the Super Bowl XL rematch. Plus, if Aaron Rodgers is truly going to play quarterback in the black and yellow, you know the NFL will be unable to resist putting as many Steelers games on prime time as possible. The Mike Macdonald defense returning to the AFC North to face Rodgers in the Steel City? And a possible DK Metcalf revenge game pitted against his former team? Yeah, that’s made for TV. Get your popcorn ready.
