Three Seattle Seawolves – hookers Dewald Kotze and Jesse Mackail and scrumhalf Brock Gallagher – have been listed as part of the Canadian roster for 2025 international play by Canadian head coach Stephen Meehan, as announced on June 12.
All three have been capped in Canadian international test matches before. Additionally, Kotze and Gallagher both played in last year’s Pacific Nations Cup.
In addition to the three Seawolves, there are 26 other MLR players in the Canadian roster: ten Free Jacks, five Hounds, four Warriors, three RFCLA players, two Gold, one Old Glory player, and one Shark.
Team Canada has a summer test schedule of two games in Edmonton, Alberta: July 12 against Belgium and July 18 against Spain. They will then play in the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup in September, where they are part of Pool B with the United States and Japan.
This announced extended roster will be trimmed down in early July before the start of the test matches. But given that all three of the announced Seawolves have already received test caps, there is a good chance each will appear in the summer tests.
Because the test window takes place after the conclusion of the MLR playoffs, these call-ups will not affect the MLR season.
