Reign FC Looking to Hold Off Courage in Crucial Sunday Clash
The Seattle Reign (8-7-6 W-L-D, 30 points) have plenty of work to do before the NWSL Playoffs in November. Seattle, which is in seventh place as of Saturday morning, remains four points out of third place and four points out of missing the playoffs entirely if it can’t string together some solid results with five matches left to play. Seattle has lost two of its last three and will need to get some consistency going if it hopes to make noise in the postseason.
An upstart North Carolina Courage squad (7-7-7, 28 points) occupies the eighth and final playoff spot for now, and will try to leapfrog Seattle with a win on Sunday night in the Emerald City. Winners of their last two, the Courage present some interesting issues for Seattle head coach Laura Harvey and company.
