Into the Abyss: Kraken Unveil Black, Bioluminescent Third Jersey
The Seattle Kraken have plunged deeper into shadow this season with the dramatic unveiling of their brand-new third jersey: a stark, all-black ensemble that promises to be nothing short of enigmatic.
Premiered today via the Kraken’s official video release, the new alternate kit is described in haunting terms—"Rising from the darkness. Illuminated by bioluminescence." The reveal video sets a moody tone, presenting the jersey as something born of the abyss, its presence marked by an eerie glow that seems to breathe life from the depths.
Sleeve designs mimic sonar pings, echoing the deep ocean theme tied to the Kraken’s identity. Another cool little detail about these jerseys is the inside collar is engraved with the exact coordinates of Climate Pledge Arena—home ice for the Kraken.
This jersey marks the first full-time alternate design for the Kraken since their NHL debut in 2021, outside of special uniforms for marquee events like the 2024 Winter Classic and a brief Reverse Retro campaign in 2022–23. The Kraken were previously one of just a handful of NHL teams without a full-time third jersey.
The Kraken begin their training camp ahead of the 2025-2026 season on September 18. The first preseason game is set for September 21 against the Canucks at Climate Pledge Arena. The regular season kicks off Thursday, October 9 at home against the Anaheim Ducks.
According to HockeyNews.com, this jersey is set to be worn 12 times during the 2025-26 regular season with the first time being on Saturday, November 1st vs the New York Rangers at Climate Pledge Arena.
