Seawolves hooker Kerron van Vuuren, who scored two tries in 11 matches during the 2025 season, will not return to the club in 2026. Union Sportive Carcassonne announced the signing of van Vuuren for the remainder of the 2025-26 Pro D2 season in France, and as that season extends until June, van Vuuren will not be able to play for the Seawolves or any MLR team this upcoming season.

Van Vuuren’s exit is the Seawolves’ fourth confirmed departure of the offseason, after Cam Orr, Njabulo Gumede, and Malacchi Esdale. Dewald Kotze, whose return was announced earlier in the month, is the only confirmed hooker for the 2026 Seawolves. Because Canadians will be counted as international players in 2026, Kotze will count as one of the team’s seven international gameday slots whenever he takes the pitch - and so would the team’s third hooker Jesse Mackail, a Kiwi. It’s unclear whether Seattle will opt to keep Mackail on the roster for the upcoming season or look to a domestic option or two to fill out the team’s depth at number two.
