The Seattle Storm were given the No. 3 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft following the Draft Lottery on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Seattle will have a top-3 pick for the second straight season after selecting Dominique Malonga in the 2025 draft. The franchise hasn’t picked in the top-3 in consecutive years since 2015-16, when they had three total picks that high. Those selections became Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis.
With Malonga already emerging as a rookie, this could be precisely the reset that the Storm need to begin building a young, promising roster. The Storm need backcourt depth, so expect a guard to come off the board first, potentially. Seattle was thought to be targeting TCU guard Olivia Miles in 2025, but she opted for another season of college ball — creating an opportunity to acquire both Malonga and Miles in back-to-back seasons.
The Dallas Wings won the draft lottery for the second straight season. Dallas drafted former UConn superstar Paige Bueckers in 2025, but still finished tied for the worst record in the WNBA (10-34). Bueckers’ former UConn teammate, Azzi Fudd, may become a consensus No. 1 overall pick as draft day gets closer.
The odds shook out exactly as expected. Dallas had the most chances out of 1,000 to land the top pick (420), while the Minnesota Lynx (261) landed the second pick. Seattle (167) ended up in third, the Washington Mystics ended up in fourth (97) and the Chicago Sky got the fifth pick (55).
It’s the first time since 2018 that the picks have been ordered exactly as the odds would expect. The WNBA Draft is scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2026.
