Gonzaga WBB's Lone Freshman Abby Lusk Adds to Skilled Frontcourt
Gonzaga women's basketball has only one freshman on its roster, but there are ways she can break into a deep rotation.
One year after being acclaimed as a youthful group, Gonzaga women’s basketball rosters only one freshman ahead of the 2026-27 season. 6-1 forward Abby Lusk is the Zags’ lone first-year player and one of just three underclassmen on the team.
But like last year, GU could see key contributions from its younger, less experienced talent in Lusk, whose versatility makes her a different cog in a talented Gonzaga frontcourt.
The Pocatello, ID, native committed to the Bulldogs last November, choosing the Lilac City over programs like Texas Tech, former West Coast Conference foe San Diego, and new Pac-12 opponent Boise State. Already having Lauren Whittaker and Jaiden Haile, each of whom earned end-of-season WCC hardware in their first collegiate season, the Zags add a four-star recruit in Lusk to an exciting backline.
A two-sport athlete at Pocatello High, Lusk starred for both Thunder basketball and volleyball. She finished her four-year tenure as the program’s all-time leading scorer (1,562 points), won Class 5A Idaho Player of the Year in her junior and senior seasons, and was named 5A Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.
