Elijah Arroyo Lost for Season, Casting Questions on Seahawks' Future

RENTON, Wash. - Coming out of Miami, the Seattle Seahawks tabbed Elijah Arroyo as one of their two second round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, touting his athletic ability and receiving skills as potential game changing talents.

But durability stood out as Arroyo's biggest red flag after missing extensive time with the Hurricanes due to multiple injuries. Unfortunately, that track record has carried over into the NFL so far, preventing the team from being able to take advantage of his upside as a field-stretching tight end.

After spending time on injured reserve during his rookie season with a balky knee, as officially announced by the team on Thursday, Arroyo's sophomore campaign has officially come to a close after just six games, as he will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. He left with the injury before halftime in a Week 6 loss to the Broncos while trying to recover a fumble by teammate Rashid Shaheed, departing the field with trainers supporting his right arm as he walked off.

Earlier this week, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald wouldn't confirm whether or not Arroyo was injured reserve bound, but he did acknowledge that he would miss "significant" time. Now, with surgery scheduled in the near future, it's worth wondering if he has potentially played his final snap with the team.
