He was named to the All State team and received Class 4A player of the year honors. It’s unclear what side of the ball Kalsbeck will play on the Palouse, but coach Jimmy Rodgers and his staff landed a very productive player. He seems to have a quick burst and embraces contact, giving Washington State’s new staff options when he arrives in Pullman.

Kurland fits the mold of a pocket passer with prototypical quarterback size and a strong arm that Rodgers and his staff seem to prefer. He will be an interesting player to track until he arrives on campus and see where he fits into the quarterback competition.

Kalsbeck and Kurland are the sixth and seventh members of the 2026 class for the Cougars, joining offensive lineman Kingston Fotolia from Odea High School (Seattle, Washington), safety Bradley Esser from Harrisburg High School (Harrisburg, South Dakota), tight end Drew Jones from Rocky Mountain High School (Meridian, Idaho), receiver Hudson Lewis from Timberline High School (Boise, Idaho) and defensive lineman Jake Jones from Campo Verde High School (Gilbert, Arizona).
