Quickly acclimating to his new surroundings, Rogers and his coaching staff/recruiting department have been hard at work building his first full recruiting class as the Cougars prepare for life in the rebuilt Pac-12\. Here are a few new names Wazzu fans should get familiar with on offense: **Maurice Purify II, Receiver, Westside High School (Omaha, NE)** Standing 6‑3 and weighing 175 pounds, Purify didn’t receive extensive recruiting attention. His scholarship offers came from Fresno State, Lindenwood, Indiana State, and Northern Illinois—and he originally committed to NIU before de‑committing in June. Though his junior-year production was modest (22 catches, 298 yards, two touchdowns), he brings elite speed and the ability to high-point contested throws. With his frame and athleticism, he’s a long‑term developmental project to watch who could break out as a senior. > 1000% Committed[#AGTG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/AGTG?src=hash&ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com) [pic.twitter.com/bnpifwzSV2](https://t.co/bnpifwzSV2?ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com)— Maurice L. An ESPN three-star recruit, he posted a strong junior season with 1,037 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, and holds offers from New Mexico and New Mexico State, among others. As he progresses, he’s expected to become even faster and more agile — making him a quality option in WSU’s backfield for the future. > [#AGTG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/AGTG?src=hash&ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com) COMMITTED!! With zero exposure and a zero-star profile, it’s clear the Cougars coaching staff sees raw size and potential, hoping to develop a hidden talent in the trenches. **John Herbert, Running Back, Strake High School (Houston, TX)** Herbert is the highest-rated recruit in WSU’s 2026 class — a three-star, 88‑rated back standing 6‑0 and weighing 185 pounds. With offers from Air Force, Rice, and others, he delivered a staggering 3,452 rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns during his junior year. Herbert showcases excellent breakaway speed and vision, which should translate well when he arrives in Pullman. > FULL SEASON HIGHLIGHTS > \-District MVP (Unanimous) > \-1st Team All-District RB > \-3,532 yds rushing #1 in TX, #2 in US > \-40 total TD's > \-Leadership Council > \-Academic All-District[https://t.co/ilK1fEsSGH](https://t.co/ilK1fEsSGH?ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com)— John Hebert (@JohnHebert79922) [December 5, 2024](https://twitter.com/JohnHebert79922/status/1864475330204880975?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com) ***Recruiting rankings courtesy of*** [***247Sports.***](https://247sports.com/college/washington-state/Season/2026-Football/Commits/?ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com)
