Continuing to restock their roster in the transfer portal, the Washington State Cougars received commitments from East Texas A&M forward Ronnie Harrison from East Texas A&M and Northwestern forward Tyler Kropp.

After completing his freshman season with the Wildcats, Kropp will arrive in Pullman with three years of eligibility remaining. In his lone season at Northwestern, he averaged 3.1 points and 2.1 rebounds while appearing in 31 games and making 10 starts, earning more minutes as the season went along. His most productive performance came in a win over USC, where he posted 11 points and nine rebounds, offering a glimpse of his potential.

With one year of eligibility left, Harrison averaged 14.7 points and 6.1 rebounds last season, leading the Lions in both categories. He also shot 47.% from the field and 29.% from three-point range. In the Southland Conference, he ranked ninth in scoring, 10th in rebounding, and tied for sixth in steals, demonstrating a well-rounded game that should translate well to the new-look Pac-12.

Coming out of high school, Kropp drew interest from several programs, including Northwestern, Davidson, Miami (OH), and Dayton. His upside became even more evident last summer on the international stage. Representing Argentina at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup, Kropp led the tournament in scoring with an impressive 21.7 points per game, while also contributing 9.7 rebounds per contest. That production highlighted his ability to handle a featured offensive role against high-level competition.

Offensively, Kropp does most of his work inside the arc. Across his U19 tournament run and freshman season combined, 145 of his 170 shot attempts came from two-point range. That shot profile differs somewhat from the typical forward in head coach David Riley’s system, which often emphasizes floor spacing and perimeter shooting. However, Kropp brings valuable skills that can complement that approach. He has strong footwork around the basket, the ability to score effectively in the post, and a reliable mid-range jump shot. While his three-point shooting remains a work in progress, his interior presence and scoring instincts make him a valuable addition.

At 6-9 and 230 pounds, Kropp has a physical profile similar to former Washington State forward Eemeli Yalaho, who played at 6-8, 235 pounds. Yalaho was known for his versatility, contributing as both a post scorer and a floor spacer during his time in Pullman. Although Yalaho had limited opportunities earlier in his career, he eventually expanded his role under Riley’s system.

Kropp could follow a similar developmental path with the Cougars, gradually extending his range while maintaining his effectiveness inside. Yalaho went from averaging 3.3 points a game and 2.4 rebounds per game to 10.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game last year, a positive sign for Kropp as a candidate to find similar success growth-wise.

It would not be surprising to see Kropp’s three-point attempts increase as he becomes more comfortable in Riley’s system. At the same time, Washington State is likely to utilize his strengths early by giving him touches in the post and opportunities to attack the rim. His combination of size, experience, and international production makes him a low-risk, high-upside addition.

Harrison is an athletic 6-8, 210-pound forward with the ability to drive to the rim knock down open jump shots. While his 29.6% production from three isn’t eye-catching, it came on 3.6 attempts per game - an increase from just 0.5 attempts during his sophomore season at Tarleton State, where he played only eight games before a season-ending injury. Despite the modest efficiency, the increased volume suggests growing confidence and a willingness to expand his game, which could pay off with further development.

Harrison also showed he can perform at a high level against elite competition, averaging 19 points and six rebounds in games against UConn and Texas A&M last season. Those experiences should serve him well with the Cougars.

Washington State’s roster has undergone a near-complete overhaul heading into the upcoming season. The only returning players from last year’s team are walk-on Dio Blakely and Dominik Robinson, who redshirted. Kropp and Harrison will be joined by a large group of newcomers, including Eastern Washington transfer Casey Jones, incoming freshman Braden Kyman, UNLV transfer Ladji Dembele, Wake Forest transfer Sebastian Akins, Providence transfer Jaylen Harrell, TCU transfer RJ Jones, Central Missouri guard Lazerek Houston, and Manhattan wing Fraser Roxburgh.

With 12 players currently on the roster, the Cougars may be close to finalizing their rebuild. The approach is clear: Washington State aggressively attacked the transfer portal, bringing in eight players to replace last season’s roster. The staff targeted athletes with Power 4 experience - such as Kropp, Harrell, Akins, Jones, and Dembele -who are seeking larger roles, while also adding players like Houston, Roxburgh, and Harrison who are looking to step up in competition.
