In their first NCAA Baseball Tournament appearance since 2010, the Washington State Cougars have gone 1-1 through their first two games and now face a rematch with Oregon State in an elimination game.

If the Cougars defeat Oregon State for a second time in four days, they will advance to face Oregon later on Sunday. To reach the next round, Washington State would need to beat the Ducks twice.

On Friday night, the Cougars defeated Oregon State 3-2, pulling off the upset against their former - and soon to be current - Pac 12 foes.

The Beavers jumped out to a 2-1 lead before Washington State's Matt Priest delivered an RBI single in the sixth inning that scored Gavin Roy and tied the game at 2-2.

The tie was broken in the eighth inning when Dustin Robinson hit an RBI double that scored Max Hartman, giving Washington State a 3-2 lead. The Cougars held on from there to secure the victory.

The story of the game was starting pitcher Nick Lewis, who tossed a complete game. Lewis allowed six hits and two runs while recording no walks and one strikeout. The Mountain West Pitcher of the Year delivered a dominant performance when his team needed it most.

Game 2 against host Oregon was a different story, as the Ducks earned a 4-0 victory in a pitching duel that went in favor of the top seed.

Neither team recorded a hit until the fifth inning. Oregon broke through first, taking a 1-0 lead in the fifth before Junior Lauaki blasted a three-run home run in the ninth inning to provide some much-needed separation late.

Luke Meyers turned in a strong performance for Washington State, pitching 7 1/3 innings while allowing five hits, two walks, and striking out seven batters.

However, the Cougars' offense struggled throughout the game. Washington State managed just two hits and struck out 19 times, failing to come up with enough offense to pull off the victory.

Oregon starting pitcher Will Sanford was the difference-maker. Sanford was nearly unhittable, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out 14 batters over 6 1/3 innings.

**What's Next?**

The Cougars face a must-win elimination game against the Beavers on Sunday at 1 PM PT.

If Washington State defeats Oregon State, it will face Oregon at 6 PM PT. Should the Cougars win both games on Sunday, they would earn a winner-take-all rematch against Oregon on Monday with a trip to the super regional on the line.
