Sunblock Required: Huskies Non-conference September Slate Scheduled for Daytime
Get your sunblock ready.
There will be no Dawgs after dark for the Washington Huskies football team during the first three home games.
The Big Ten announced TV times for the first three weeks of the season, and it includes a few anomalies for UW. First, there are no true night games for the Huskies during the first three weeks, all of which are home non-conference games. And with college football starting the regular season a week before the NFL, the season-opening Apple Cup will be played on a Sunday, making it three games in 14 days at Husky Stadium.
It’s quite a change from recent seasons, when some fans leaving after an 8 p.m. game ended may not have made it home the same day the game started. In 2026, UW will play games at 1 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. to open the 2026 season. The Apple Cup will be played on network TV for the second straight year. Washington will face Washington State on an NBC game at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. For those who have Fubo as a provider, which does not yet have a deal with NBC, the game will also be available to stream on Peacock.
Washington opened the 2025 season with two 8 p.m. games, facing Colorado State and UC Davis, before a Sept. 20 Apple Cup that started at 4:30. The Huskies also opened the 2024 season at 8 p.m. against Weber State.
While the quality of opponent is once again relatively weak — UW hasn’t faced a ranked non-conference opponent since beating then non-conference foe No. 11 Michigan State 39-28 in 2022 — it’s welcome news for fans who prefer daytime games.
Five of 12 game times are known so far, including a pair of Friday games in October.
