The scales are officially tipped.

Washington added the biggest missing pieces to its 2027 class on Wednesday with the commitments of offensive linemen Gecova Doyal and Tye Kennedy.

Jedd Fisch’s strong recruiting class had been light on offensive linemen prior to Wednesday, when Doyal, a four-star interior lineman out of Puyallup and Tye Kennedy, son of former UW All-American Lincoln Kennedy, became the second and third o-linemen to commit to Washington’s 2027 group.

Second-year offensive line coach Michael Switzer reeled in the duo to join previously committed interior offensive lineman Reis Russell, a three-star recruit out of Valor Christian H.S. (Highland Ranch, Colo.).

Wednesday’s commitments pushed Washington’s 25th-ranked class to 23 commits. It’s likely that 2-3 more players will be added prior to signing day in December.

Kennedy, a 6-6, 280 three-star recruit out of Mountain View High School (Mesa, Ariz.), chose UW over Michigan, Utah and Arizona State. With his legendary father by his side, the younger Kennedy announced his decision during a Rivals live stream.

Though he grew up rooting for the Huskies, Kennedy has said in the past that he would choose the school that fit him best. That made Michigan a major player in the process. Just a few weeks after both Kennedys posed for photos in full uniform during Tye’s official June 19-21 visit, he ultimately chose to follow his father’s giant footsteps.

“I feel like they have a great plan for me,” Tye Kennedy said. “They're building something really special, and I just see myself being a part of that program. Really great coaches, the teammates, my future teammates up there, they're really great people. I just love everything about it.”

Kennedy has some room to pack on good weight, but has NFL upside along with his pedigree. Injuries limited him to just four games during his junior season, but he appears to possess the high-level athleticism required for a Big Ten tackle.

Doyal, who hung out with Kennedy and Reis while all three made their official visits the same weekend, also committed on the Rivals stream. Originally scheduled to commit just prior to Kennedy, Doyal’s announcement was delayed by technical difficulties. Through a choppy broadcast, he announced he’d be joining Kennedy on Montlake.

At 6-2 1/2, 275 pounds, Doyal is a highly athletic lineman who can play tackle, guard or center. His size seems more suited for an interior spot, but Switzer typically gets linemen in the door and figures out later where they fit best.

“Glad that’s over,” Doyal said after announcing his choice.

Hotly pursued by Oregon, Doyal’s decision was reportedly in flux until the final days, when he selected Washington over the Ducks, UCLA and Utah.

“I just think because of the relationships I had with the coaching staff and the teammates. … “I feel like I’ve had good relationships with all my other schools, but I feel like the \[UW\] education was one of the best in the country.”

It’s the second straight year Washington has won a battle for a highly-recruited offensive lineman. Washington flipped Kodi Green, who is expected to start for the Huskies at left tackle this fall, in the 2026 class.

Though his strength drew Power 4 schools his direction, it was Doyal’s feet that stand out. He moves extremely well for an athlete of his size. That could allow him to play tackle despite not having the ideal height. He most likely projects as an interior lineman, and his highlights show a tenacious player who likes to finish blocks.

One big man remains uncommitted from the June 19-21 visit to Montlake. DaJohn Yarborough, 6-5, 340-pound guard out of Basha H.S. (Ariz.), will announce his choice between Washington, Cal, Florida State and Mississippi State on July 11\.

Four-star lineman Rashaun Lavata’i (Curtis H.S., University Place, Wash.) visited UW a few days before the others showed up on June 19\. He committed to Washington State the following week. Lavata’i was the No. 3 in-state recruit according to the 247Sports composite.

It is not known exactly how strong Washington’s offer was to Lavata’i. Despite his choice to head for Pullman, five of the top seven in-state recruits have committed to Washington, with only Lavata’i and fifth-ranked Sione Kaho, a quarterback, headed elsewhere. Washington went with QB Blake Roskopf out of Desert Edge H.S. (Goodyear, Ariz.), who is currently the second-rated player in the class behind fellow four-star Tre Moore, a receiver out of Pflugerville Weiss H.S. (Pflugerville, Texas).

UW continues to clean up in the state of Arizona, as Fisch and his staff continue to utilize the connections they made while at U of A from 2021-23\. Kennedy is the fifth player from the Grand Canyon state to choose Washington, with Yarborough being a potential sixth.
