The 2025 Seattle Seahawks schedule has dropped. By now, it has been analyzed under a microscope. Fans are excitedly looking at which games were given the “prime time” tag. Which road trips sound the most fun?
Now, let’s break down what we might see on the gridiron during the 2025 slate.
These five matchups aren’t necessarily the top five quarterbacks Seattle will face. There are other storylines, possible revenge games, or coaching duels that are worth the price of admission. Let’s take a look at the five best matchups the 2025 Seahawks schedule provides.
DK Metcalf vs. Seahawks Defense (Week 2)
One of the biggest stories of the entire NFL offseason was the Metcalf trade saga. Eventually, the Seahawks found a trade partner in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seattle merited an extra second round pick in the deal.
The Seahawks simply were not willing to pay Metcalf the money he wanted and it essentially was a sign-and-trade for a four-year, $132 million extension. In Metcalf’s second ever game in the black and yellow, he will face his old team he played for for six years. Nothing is official regarding who will be throwing the ball to him, even as rumors swirl about Aaron Rodgers. Either way, get your popcorn ready. It’s Metcalf running routes against Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, and company. Even if they like each other off the field, there’s bound to be fireworks.
Klink Kubiak Revenge Game vs. Saints (Week 3)
It’s not often you think of a “revenge game” for your offensive coordinator. Kubiak has a chance to make a statement early with the Seahawks offense. With new Saints head coach Kellen Moore in town, Kubiak was told to seek other opportunities. He probably would love nothing more to put up 30-plus points on his old team. With an improved offensive line and weapons galore for Sam Darnold, it’s certainly possible.
Jayden Daniels vs. Seahawks Defense, Bobby Wagner vs. Seahawks (Week 9)
One of the top stories of the 2024 NFL season was the electric season of Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. He broke the record for most offensive yards by a rookie.
Not only do the Seahawks travel to his house across the country, but they do so on Sunday Night Football. Hopefully, by November, Mike Macdonald has Seattle’s defense humming. That way, this becomes a compelling matchup of one of the most exciting offenses in football with Daniels and his top two weapons Terry McLaurin and the newly acquired Deebo Samuel against the Seahawks’ tough defense.
A bonus is that Bobby Wagner will play against the Seahawks, his team of 11 years. He has played against Seattle twice already and he made his presence known in both matchups.
Cooper Kupp Revenge Game vs. Rams (Week 11 and 16)
While the Seahawks parted ways with their long-time Pro Bowl receiver, they plucked one away from an NFC West rival in the process. Yes, Cooper Kupp is now four years removed from his receiving triple crown and Offensive Player of the Year-winning campaign. At almost 32 years old, it’s fair to wonder how much top-level play Kupp has left in the tank.
However, you can bet Kupp will make sure he is at his best when facing his old team. The first matchup on November 16 is in Los Angeles, which will surely be a warm homecoming for him. But when the whistle blows and the game starts, Kupp will have revenge on the mind. And the Seahawks will stand to benefit.
Sam Darnold Revenge Game vs. Vikings (Week 13)
One of the biggest stories of the offseason would be where Darnold will land after a career season with the Vikings. That was answered with him getting a massive three-year, $100.5 million deal with the Seahawks. He will get every chance to prove that 2024 wasn’t a mirage.
The Seahawks are hoping for a Geno Smith-like rise after being cast aside. In his first season with the Seahawks, Darnold will get to play against the purple and gold. With his former head coach Kevin O'Connell looking on from the opposite sideline, he will try and put on a show with his new digs.
