# The Benton Effect Part 3: Which Seahawks Will Benefit Most From New O-Line Coach?

One of the most respected offensive line coaches in the NFL, John Benton has coached 22 years in the league, including serving as an offensive line coach for six different franchises, earning a reputation as an outstanding teacher with a prioritized focus on fundamentals.

Taking his coaching chops to the Pacific Northwest, the Seattle Seahawks have entrusted Benton with turning around one of the NFL’s worst offensives lines from a season ago, and he will be put to the test working with nearly unchanged personnel. Among the players set to return, starting tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas as well as 2024 third-round pick Christian Haynes and 2023 fifth-round pick Olu Oluwatimi all remain on their rookie contracts after being drafted by the organization in the previous three seasons, giving the seasoned assistant a young nucleus to mold.
