Seattle Storm forward Dominique Malonga has been named a WNBA All-Star reserve for the first time in her two-year career, [the league announced](https://x.com/WNBAComms/status/2074638684742091044?s=20&ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com) on Tuesday.

Malonga, who is leading the Storm in points (15.9), rebounds (7.4) and blocks (1.2), was the only Storm player selected to play in the All-Star game. The former 2025 No. 2 overall pick has been on a meteoric rise when healthy this season and is the youngest player in this year’s event (20 years old).

The Storm (6-17) have struggled overall this season in the first year of a major rebuild. But Malonga has become the clear-cut No. 1 scoring option, which is what was expected of her when the franchise drafted her out of France last year.

Three other players earned their first-ever All-Star nods alongside Malonga: Marina Mabrey (Toronto Tempo), Olivia Miles (Minnesota Lynx) and Jessica Shepard (Dallas Wings). Miles was the lone rookie selected, but she is just over a year older than Malonga.

Seattle had three All-Stars last season in Skylar Diggins, Nneka Ogwumike and Gabby Williams. That trio left this offseason, but the latter two were selected once again in 2026.

### **What it says about Malonga**

Malonga’s jump from her rookie to second season has been exactly what Storm fans and the franchise itself hoped for. She’s getting more aggressive offensively, keeping her foot on the gas pedal when her shot is on.

Defensively, Malonga still has a way to go. But she’s been better in 2025 and is showing steady progress, which was expected considering her lack of muscle mass when she entered the league. Malonga has already filled out a fair bit since last season.

She’s not just good on a franchise level anymore — Malonga is ascending to being one of the best players in the league. Her career-best game on June 22 (37 points, 12 rebounds, one assist and two blocks) proved that, even if she’s had some quieter outings lately.
