The WNBA Draft has come and gone, and the Seattle Storm will soon begin training camp on April 27\. They will play a preseason game against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, May 4, before beginning the regular season on the road at the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, May 17\.

We [already profiled all 12 of Seattle’s players](https://www.emeraldcityspectrum.com/home/seattle-storm-roster-roundup-can-nneka-ogwumike-keep-rolling-in-14th-season) who weren’t expected to be suspended due to injury. Before the regular season begins and the Storm’s roster is finalized, we will profile [each of the team’s four draft picks](https://www.emeraldcityspectrum.com/home/wnba-draft-tracker-who-goes-to-seattle-storm-at-no-2-overall): forward/center Dominique Malonga (No. 2 overall), point guard Serena Sundell (No. 26), shooting guard Madison Conner (No. 29) and guard/forward Jordan Hobbs (No. 34).

Hobbs, Seattle’s last pick in the draft, has an uphill battle to try and make the Storm’s final roster. Can she surprise the coaching staff to potentially replace a veteran in the regular season?

### **Background**

Hobbs (6-foot-3) played her prep career at Springboro High School in Ohio. She posted 17.6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a senior, while also shooting 42.3 percent from 3-point range. Hobbs committed to Michigan as part of the 2021 recruiting class.

Earning a [small but consistent role as a freshman](https://mgoblue.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/jordan-hobbs/25578?ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com), Hobbs played in 19 games but averaged just under five minutes per game on the court. She finished her first season with the Wolverines with averages of 1.1 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. That was by far the least Hobbs would play in one season during her collegiate career.

After a stepping-stone season as a sophomore (30 games played, nine starts), Hobbs assumed a full-time starting role beginning in the 2023–24 season. Hobbs started all 34 games for Michigan and averaged 9.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3 assists. She also increased her 3-point shooting volume, converting 46 threes on 38.7 percent shooting.

Hobbs took another step — especially offensively — as a senior. She scored at least 10 points in 26 of 34 regular season games on her way to an All-Big Ten honorable mention nod. For the season, Hobbs averaged 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Hobbs notched a career-high 28 points in Michigan’s first-round NCAA Tournament win against Iowa State, including converting 5 of 10 attempts from 3-point range. She struggled in the Wolverines' second-round loss, however, finishing with just 5 points on 2-for-9 shooting.

The Storm selected Hobbs with the ninth pick in the third round (No. 34 overall) of the 2025 WNBA Draft.

### **Best Case Scenario**

Seattle could trade one Jordan for another in 2025\. Now that [Jordan Horston has been suspended for the entire season](https://storm.wnba.com/news/horston-and-muhl-to-miss-2025-storm-season?ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com) due to a torn ACL, the Storm will be looking for gadget depth at small forward. Gabby Williams is the starter there, but the team seemed to select Hobbs as a fill-in for Horston, who contributed 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals last season in 39 games. Hobbs is an inch taller than Horston (6-foot-2) and has a skill set that better translates to the wing in the WNBA.

Thus, if she impresses in training camp, the best-case scenario for Hobbs is sticking on the roster and coming off the bench for a few minutes per game. She probably wouldn’t play as many minutes as Horston would have, but there might be a role for Hobbs if she’s immediately polished.

### **Worst Case Scenario**

A lot of Seattle’s players are versatile and can play multiple positions. The Storm don’t necessarily need a one-to-one replacement for Horston, nor someone who possesses a skill set similar to Williams. Head coach Noelle Quinn can fill those holes with other lineup types. That would leave her off the roster in 2025.

### **What to Expect in 2025**

It won’t be an easy path to a roster spot for Hobbs. She does offer a unique skill set that resembles Horston’s, but the team may opt to develop one or both of the other pure guards they selected in the draft (Sundell and Conner). Seattle already has 10 players who are likely to make the final roster — only Malonga is included there among rookies — and the team [probably only has enough cap space to field 11 players](https://www.emeraldcityspectrum.com/home/projecting-storm-2025-roster-construction-via-salary-cap-draft-picks).

Thus, Hobbs will be competing with four other players for one spot. With Sundell’s upside, she seems the most likely rookie outside of Malonga to be retained based on the team’s need for a starting point guard for the future. Horston should be back in 2026, so Hobbs would be more of a stopgap until then. That said, she’s a long shot to be with Seattle at the beginning of the regular season.
