Seattle Storm forward Dominique Malonga has been [removed from the injury report](https://x.com/munson%5Fbella/status/2063019718450323516?s=20&ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com) following an eight-game absence due to a concussion, per The IX Sports reporter Bella Valeriano Munson.

Malonga is expected to play in the Storm’s road game against the Minnesota Lynx at 10 a.m. PST on Saturday, June 6.

In a corresponding move, the Storm [waived Joyner Holmes](https://x.com/seattlestorm/status/2063018928108949977?s=20&ref=emeraldcityspectrum.com), whom they signed to a hardship contract on May 22\. Holmes appeared in one game for the Storm against the Connecticut Sun on the same day she was signed, totaling two points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

Lexie Brown, who is currently “not with \[the\] team,” per Munson, has been ruled out for against the Lynx. Brown also did not play in the Storm’s 72-68 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on June 3.

In 10 appearances this season, Brown has averaged 3.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.5 steals in 14.8 minutes per game.

Malonga is the big get for the Storm. They were already 1-2 whenever she missed her first game of the season, but the extended absence has only put more pressure on the entire Seattle lineup. The Storm are currently on a four-game losing streak heading into the matchup with the 8-2 Lynx.

It was a small sample size, but Malonga was averaging a team-high 16.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in 26.7 minutes. No player has stepped in to fill that scoring void consistently.

Natisha Hiedeman has been good on offense (13.5 points per game), but that’s not cutting it as a No. 1 scoring option. Flau’jae Johnson (11.6) has struggled with efficiency, shooting just 30.8% from the field on the season.

The Storm (75.6 points per game) and the Connecticut Sun (75.5 points per game) are well behind the third-worst scoring team in the WNBA (Chicago Sky, 81.6 points per game) as the two clear-cut worst offensive teams in the league this season.

Malonga could help change that, as the Storm scored 80 or more points in two of her three games played this season. Since then, Seattle has eclipsed that mark just once.

If the Storm are even going to be in the playoff conversation, they have to get their stars back and keep them healthy. Ezi Magbegor (foot) still hasn’t played a game since signing her three-year, $3.75 million contract — the third-richest deal in the league in average annual value.

As it stands now, Seattle hasn’t shown it can even compete with the better teams in the WNBA. Growing pains were expected, but missing both Malonga and Magbegor for nearly a month at the beginning of the season was not.

Malonga’s return won’t solve all of the Storm’s issues, but it’s a good start to getting back on track.
