Seattle Seawolves loosehead prop Chance Wenglewski announced his retirement from professional and international rugby on his Instagram account Saturday morning, ending a seven-year MLR career capped off by two years with the Seawolves. Wenglewski received 10 caps for the USA Eagles between a Pacific Nations Cup, World Cup qualifiers, and test matches, in addition to his 81 appearances in MLR games.
Wenglewski’s departure widens the hole left by the also retired Cam Orr at loosehead prop, and despite the recent addition of fellow capped Eagle Ezekiel Lindenmuth as the top loosehead, the team is in need of depth options in the front row. There is an availability of domestic talent due to the number of folded teams during the offseason, but Seattle will have to figure out what direction they’re going in soon enough for their front row.
