The Seattle Torrent delivered a historic and dramatic night at Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday, earning their first-ever win as a franchise with a gritty 2–1 comeback victory over the New York Sirens.

For most of the game, Seattle was fighting from behind after New York struck early with a goal from Paetyn Levis, controlling the pace and keeping the Torrent pressing without breakthrough. Late in the third period, the home team had yet to find the back of the net and a winless season looked poised to be prolonged.

But the final minutes changed the narrative. Seattle finally broke through, thanks in part to New York rookie Kristyna Kaltounkova, the top overall pick, receiving a major checking from behind penalty and game misconduct with 3:59 to play. Capitalizing on the penalty, Alex Carpenter - facing her former team - buried the equalizer on a power play, officially scoring the first home goal in Torrent history.

Climate Pledge was already erupting, but the celebration had barely begun before the Torrent struck again. Just 22 seconds later, captain Hilary Knight ripped in a power-play goal that became the game-winner, the perfect veteran statement in a milestone moment for the franchise and their captain.

In the net, Hannah Murphy made her PWHL debut and absolutely delivered, stopping 23 of 24 shots for a .958 save percentage and keeping Seattle alive until their late surge without giving up any goals after the 3:15 mark in the opening period. The win wasn’t just about the goals in the final minute. It was about resilience for the Torrent and finally finding a way to make the plays needed to land in the win column.

The Torrent stayed patient, battled through a defensive heavyweight matchup, and capitalized when their stars had the chance. For the fans, it was an emotional and electric night, the kind of win that can define a team’s identity and set the tone for the home atmosphere moving forward. A comeback, a captain’s clutch finish, and the first win in franchise history on home ice - Seattle couldn’t have scripted it any better.
