Seattle Storm guard Flau’jae Johnson was named to the 2026 WNBA All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Wednesday.

Johnson, who was selected eighth overall in the WNBA Draft by the Golden State Valkyries before being traded to Seattle on draft night, was one of six players named to the list. Two players tied for the fifth spot, so this year’s team had an extra player compared to past seasons.

Here’s a look at the entire WNBA All-Rookie Team:

- G Flau’jae Johnson, Seattle Storm
- G Pauline Astier, New York Liberty
- G Azzi Fudd, Dallas Wings
- G Olivia Miles, Minnesota Lynx
- G Kiki Rice, Toronto Tempo
- G Sydney Taylor, Chicago Sky

The immediate standout is that the entire team is made up of backcourt players, as this year’s successful rookie class was very guard-heavy. It’s the opposite of 2025, when three of the five players were frontcourt.

Astier and Rice were the two who tied for fifth, leading to the expanded team.

[3 Positives, Negatives From Storm’s 2026 SeasonThe Seattle Storm’s 2026 season has come to an end, and it wasn’t a campaign that will be well-remembered in franchise history — at least not for winning reasons. Seattle finished 8-36 overall, losing the most games in one season by any team in WNBA history (44-![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/1d/f2/1df2f77b-83dd-4bc0-a6d2-6d1bb5df89a3/content/images/icon/Seahawks--1--cc7063ef-3a20-4e7c-9e75-977db00dba0e.jpg)Emerald City SpectrumConnor Benintendi![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/1d/f2/1df2f77b-83dd-4bc0-a6d2-6d1bb5df89a3/content/images/thumbnail/260803_at-2bnyl_jn-26-1-17356d42-07df-4b7c-93a9-f1c72c5a16f7.jpg)](https://www.emeraldcityspectrum.com/3-positives-negatives-from-storms-2026-season/)

Seattle has now had a player on the All-Rookie Team in three of the last four years, with Johnson following in the footsteps of Dominique Malonga (2025) and Jordan Horston (2023).

Johnson averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks in 28.7 minutes per game. She played in all but two games for the Storm and started all 42 games in which she was active.

Together with Malonga and No. 3 overall pick Awa Fam, Johnson helped solidify the Storm’s young, productive trio. Even in a lost season, that group gave fans hope that the franchise's future was in good hands.

Johnson was second on the Storm in scoring behind Malonga, third in rebounds, third in assists, and first in steals among players who played more than four games.

Fam was also excellent in her rookie season, but she was in and out of the starting lineup. She played in 37 games (26 starts) and averaged 10.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks. It wasn’t enough to get her on the list.

It could easily be argued that Fam was snubbed from the All-Rookie Team, particularly because she had better statistics than Astier in almost every category. Astier averaged 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks in 44 games played (39 starts).

As with any of these types of awards, there are always going to be deserving players left off the list. Fam was probably the biggest example for the 2026 rookie class.
