After stalling talks for months, the Cincinnati Bengals reportedly have opened up the phone lines to teams inquiring about the possibility of trading for Trey Hendrickson, who has been seeking a massive contract extension with extensive guaranteed money.

While the idea of adding Hendrickson may seem very enticing to teams around the league, no one knows for sure whether a trade for the star pass rusher is worth it due to the draft picks that would be required to acquire him and the cost of a lucrative extension, especially with him now being north of 30 years old.

While both arguments are more than just valid, it must be brought up that elite pass rushers don’t grow on trees, and Hendrickson absolutely qualifies as an elite pass rusher after leading the NFL with 17.5 sacks last season.

Should the Seahawks make a run at Hendrickson? And if so, what would be reasonable trade packages to offer the Bengals for him?

### Trey Hendrickson’s Career at a Glance

Ever since getting drafted in the 103rd overall in the third round by the Saints in the 2017 NFL Draft, Hendrickson has had an illustrious career in the league. While it took him until 2020 to really get going production-wise, he has arguably been the most productive pass rusher in the league since that year. Since 2020, he has recorded 70.5 sacks and double-digit sacks in four of the past five seasons. He has also been selected to the Pro Bowl four times and was selected to the First Team All-Pro Team last season.

### Possible Trade Proposals

**Scenario #1:** Seahawks acquire Trey Hendrickson from Bengals for Boye Mafe, a 2026 second round pick, and a 2027 third round pick.

It is widely known that the Bengals, at minimum, are looking for a first-round pick in a possible Hendrickson trade. However, in this scenario the Seahawks only give up a young player who could be on the rise in Mafe along with two Day 2 selections.

I think this scenario could be plausible because the Bengals are getting a young ascending player in return who plays the same position as Hendrickson. Two, instead of a first round pick, the Bengals are getting two Day 2 picks, which could have more overall value if the Seahawks are picking late in the first round as a playoff team.

**Scenario #2**: Seahawks acquire Trey Hendrickson from Bengals for Boye Mafe, a 2026 first round pick, and a 2027 second round pick.

Now let’s say the Bengals are not willing to budge when it comes to receiving a first round pick in exchange. If that were to be the case, this is likely what a trade for Hendrickson would look like.

I generally think that this trade proposal is one of the likelier ones simply because of the value the Bengals see in Hendrickson. The second reason is because it’s clear that through a trade they’ll be looking to add a younger talent to replenish their defense, so keeping Mafe as part of the deal would be necessary.

**Scenario #3**: Seahawks acquire Trey Hendrickson from Bengals for Derick Hall, a 2026 second round pick, and a 2027 third round pick.

In this scenario, the Bengals make it clear they not only want a young talent through a trade but also a player with higher perceived upside who has more club control. This is where Hall enters the conversation.

Like Hendrickson, Hall had a very slow start to his career with no sacks as a rookie, but just last year, he became one of the more productive pass rushers on the Seahawks defensive line with eight sacks. He still has two years left on his rookie deal, so the Bengals would not have to immediately re-sign him to a new deal, which would play a role in preventing the team from having to give up a first rounder.
