SEATTLE, Wash. – The Seattle Kraken host the Vegas Golden Knights at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday (7 PM PT/KHN, SCRIPPS, KONG). Here’s everything you need to know from Saturday’s morning skate.

**Below is the projected lineup based on Friday’s practice and Saturday’s optional morning skate:**

Jared McCann – Matty Beniers – Jordan Eberle

Jaden Schwartz – Shane Wright – Eeli Tolvanen

Mason Marchment – Chandler Stephenson – Ryan Winterton

Tye Kartye – Freddy Gaudreau – Jani Nyman

Vince Dunn – Adam Larsson

Ryan Lindgren – Brandon Montour

Josh Mahura – Jamie Oleksiak

Joey Daccord

Matt Murray

Scratches: Berkly Catton, Cale Fleury, Philipp Grubauer

Seattle held an optional skate, but Catton, Fleury and Grubauer remained on the ice for extra work, which indicates they will be scratched tonight. Lambert declined to disclose any potential lineup changes from Thursday’s opener.

Matt Murray participated earlier in the optional skate, while Daccord did not, which could also point to Daccord starting tonight. Considering Daccord is expected to hold the majority of the goalie timeshare — and that he has a .926 save percentage in four starts against Vegas compared to Murray’s .882, according to Kraken PR — that seems to be the most likely scenario.

Brandon Montour did not practice on Friday, but it was just for maintenance, according to Kraken coach Lane Lambert, who said on Saturday that he expects him to be in the lineup. The 31-year-old defenseman only resumed skating on Tuesday after undergoing an ankle procedure right before training camp.

Montour didn’t look any worse for wear on Thursday, quickly ramping up to make it into the opening night lineup and displaying an incredible two-way effort to set up Seattle’s go-ahead goal in its 3-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks.

Unless Lambert decides to shift things around, the Kraken’s top line of Jared McCann, Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle will get another shot at driving the offense against a much-tougher Vegas team.

After a slow start on Thursday, in which Daccord held down the fort with Anaheim taking a 17-5 shots on goal advantage, Seattle will almost certainly need to start out faster on Saturday.

The Beniers line was the first to really start clicking, maintaining a long offensive zone possession shortly after a failed power-play opportunity in the second period before teaming up for McCann’s insurance tally early in the third. In 12:45 of 5-on-5 time together, the trio outshot Anaheim 8-5 and created nine scoring chances to the Ducks’ six.

Beniers told the Emerald City Spectrum on Friday that the team focused on establishing their forecheck, which allowed them to get back into the game.

“The second half of the second period, we started really putting some pressure on them, getting some turnovers, creating some plays,” Beniers told ECS. “Then I think we did a great job in the third period, so it was a building– we kind of built that game.”

Lambert said he was impressed with the 22-year-old center, particularly with his defensive game that he never truly noticed until he started working with him every day.

“He’s a complete player, more of a 200-foot player than maybe I gave him credit for when I first took the job and came here,” Lambert said. “But certainly a very responsible guy, and has the ability to make plays. I still think that as he continues to grow and gain confidence, he can make more plays.”

**The Golden Knights, meanwhile, are expected to play the following lineup, based on Thursday’s lineup:**

Ivan Barbashev – Jack Eichel – Mitch Marner

Reilly Smith – William Karlsson – Mark Stone

Brandon Saad – Tomas Hertl – Pavel Dorofeyev

Brett Howden – Colton Sissons – Keegan Kolesar

Brayden McNabb – Shea Theodore

Ben Hutton – Zach Whitecloud

Jeremy Lauzon – Kaedan Korczak

Adin Hill

Akira Schmid

After blowing a 5-3 third-period lead and losing 6-5 in a shootout to the Los Angeles Kings in their season-opener on Wednesday, the Golden Knights notched a 4-3 overtime victory against the San Jose Sharks the following night.

Led by Jack Eichel – who already has six points this season – and newcomer Mitch Marner, Vegas presents a challenge with their scoring punch and size, according to Lambert.

“They’re a big team, so they will definitely try and wear you down in our defensive zone by controlling pucks,” Lambert said on Friday. “So we’re going to have to be hard. We have to be hard on pucks, and we’re going to have to be hard in battles, and we’re going to have to make sure that we play solid defense.”

Lambert is extremely familiar with Marner in particular. Both were in Toronto last season – Lambert as the associate coach, Marner as a star winger before joining Vegas this offseason in a sign-and-trade eight-year, $96 million ($12 million AAV) contract – and conceded that the 28-year-old will be hard to stop.

“You can certainly have some type of a plan, but an elite player like him, he finds ways to break that,” Lambert said. “That’s the intelligence level that he has. That line is going well right now, with \[Ivan\] Barbashev and Eichel, so obviously it’s a key factor.”

The Barbashev-Eichel-Marner line has created five high-danger chances at 5-on-5 and has only been on the ice for one from their opponents, according to Natural Stat Trick. Daccord did well eliminating those from Anaheim on Thursday, but the Seattle skaters will have to do their part if the team wants to improve to 2-0-0.
