SEATTLE, Wash. — The first 20 minutes were not as pretty as the Seattle Redhawks wanted, but a dominant second half boosted the home squad past Portland State 79-60 on Saturday night at the Redhawk Center.

Seattle (1-1) finished the first half tied with PSU at 28, posting shooting splits of 33% from the field, 13% from three, and 41% from the free throw line. But the Redhawks found their offense in the final 20 minutes. SU outscored PSU 51-28 in the second half and posted shooting splits of 84-50-88, a dramatic turnaround where it seemed like everything the team threw up to the basket found the bottom of the net.

“40 minutes of our first two games were not playing like us” Seattle head coach Chris Victor said of the first half woes through two games. “We’re not even playing bad, but we’re just not playing like us. Very undisciplined, very disorganized, not connected. That's on me and the coaching staff. We’ve got to bring this out and get them ready to play for a full 40 [minutes].”
