Huskies Land Commitment From Coveted 2027 Offensive Line Target Reis Russell

The Washington Huskies football team received its first offensive lineman commitment from the Class of 2027 on Monday.

Reis Russell, a three-star interior line prospect from Valor Christian (Littleton, Colo.) chose UW over Georgia, Miami and USC. With recent additions of Russell and Glacier Peak (Snohomish, Wash.) tight end Zach Albright, Washington head coach Jedd Fisch’s 2027 class stands at No. 10 in the 247Sports composite rankings.

The 6-3, 295-pound Russell visited Washington’s campus several times in recent months, including UW’s Junior Day in March. Russell appeared to connect with current UW offensive linemen as well as offensive line coach Michael Switzer, and it seemed somewhat of a matter of when, not if, Russell would commit to Washington.

An All-State honoree, Russell started during his sophomore and junior seasons for a high school program that is considered among the best programs in Colorado and includes former UW right tackle Roger Rosengarten among its alumni. His 2025 season film shows a player with quick feet for his size, and a desire to finish blocks with a defender on his backside.

Russell’s verbal commitment is non-binding, and it is expected that he will sign in December. He’ll enter an offensive line room that, as of now, would include a strong group of interior linemen — John Mills, Champ Taulealea, Jake Flores, Lowen Colman-Brusa, Jack Schaffer and Ah Deong Yang.

Russell’s recruiting buzz shows that not all three-stars are creating equally. Though currently rated 11th-highest of UW’s 13 recruits with a composite score of .8650, Russell received offers from several top programs. The six finalists he announced in February included Georgia, Miami, Oregon, Florida and SMU. It will be interesting to see if that composite ranking climbs a bit the next time the rankings are updated.

Russell should know plenty about UW’s “Be a Pro” philosophy. His father, Matt Russell, serves as a personnel executive for the Philadelphia Eagles under Fisch’s former college roommate, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. The elder Russell played under former UW coach Rick Neuheisel at Colorado through the 1996 season.
