Huskies Coach Jedd Fisch Signs 13th-Ranked 2026 Recruiting Class
SEATTLE — When the dust settled around the University of Washington football coaches’ offices on Wednesday, things shook out essentially as planned on football recruit signing day.
A total of 23 high school players from 11 different states signed with UW. The class was ranked No. 13 in the country according to 247Sports as of this story’s publication time, which accomplished Fisch’s goal of having the highest-ranked class in the history of the school.
“Our goal was to do it,” said Fisch, who finished his second UW regular season on Saturday with an 8-4 record. “We did it in our second year at Arizona, and now we’ve done it in our second year here.”
The class features 11 “blue chip” players — one five-star and 10 four-star recruits. Fisch and a recruiting staff that was beefed up during the past offseason, signed the No. 1 player from Washington (edge Derek Colman-Brusa) as well as the top-ranked player from California (offensive tackle Kodi Greene). Fisch said that approximately 19-20 members of the class will be able to enroll in January to participate in the offseason program and spring ball.
Fisch believes Greene, the lone five-star recruit, will make an immediate impact, perhaps at left tackle.
“I’m expecting him to walk in here as a starter,” said Fisch of the 6-8, 320-pound Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, Calif.) product. “I’m expecting him to come in here and be a very similar player as a John Mills — walk in and be able to compete right away. Now, it took John Mills an entire spring and training camp to compete, and I believe Kodi will be in that same position. But, you’re talking about an elite player.”
Colman-Brusa, out of Kennedy Catholic, enters as an edge rusher to join his brother, Lowen, who was a true freshman offensive lineman from UW’s 2025 class. At 6-5, 267, Fisch believes he has the versatility to play four different spots along the defensive front, but will start out on the edge. Fisch said Colman-Brusa’s commitment in the spring allowed him to help recruit others to the class.
“Enormously important,” Fisch said. “Because of where we had him on our board, where we felt that he could immediately impact our team the day he walks on campus in January. The idea that he is once again the No. 1 player in the state. The quality of the human, the quality of the family, and the fact that his brother is on the team as well.
“We believe we have two elite players, elite people, and when we got him on board after the spring game, that enabled him to have another six months of recruiting others to join. With him and Kodi on board, it really helped the overall group want to come together.”
Late flips
Fisch hinted on Monday that there may be a couple of additions to an already solid class, and the Huskies were able to close on a pair of four-star receivers and a local linebacker. Trez Davis, a speedster out of West Monroe, Louisiana, flipped from Tulane to UW on Wednesday morning.
Jordan Clay, a big-bodied receiver from San Antonio, committed Tuesday, as did Ramzak Fruean, a linebacker out of Bethel High School in Tacoma that Fisch said is going to be “special.”
Washington also recently added versatile defensive lineman JD Hill, who committed on Nov. 20.
Tre Pollard, previously committed to UW, flipped to Stanford Wednesday.
“If you’re asking me, ‘Am I excited about the late ads as much as I am about the early ones?’ For sure,” Fisch said. “I think we’ve got a lot of great ones.”
What’s Next
Now the key is for UW to develop the recruits and retain as much of the current roster as possible. Some departures from the 2025 team are inevitable, as players search for a better chance at playing time or a larger slice of the revenue share pie. Washington will also likely bring in a handful of players from the transfer portal.
Fisch knew he had a challenge on his hands entering after the 2023 season, when UW had only approximately 40 scholarship players after NFL and portal departures following the late exit by Kalen DeBoer. Though he acknowledged that patience is not easy, he’s pleased with the progress.
“We’re excited for the future of the program, and I believe it’s coming together as we hoped and planned,” Fisch said.
