Jedd Fisch has a decision to make, and it could ultimately define the future of his tenure as the head football coach of the Washington Huskies.

Demond Williams Jr., or Elijah Brown?

Who starts Saturday at Nebraska, and for the rest of the season?

On the surface, it's a short-term decision. It could, however, lead to a lasting impact on this year's team and the future of the program.

On Monday, Fisch left the door open for both quarterbacks three days after Brown completed 21 of 27 passes for 302 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions during a 38-26 win over a Purdue team that had won two straight conference games.

It was the first conference win in four tries for the 4-3 Huskies.

"He did enough to be considered," Fisch said of Brown. "We'll see how Demond does over this week physically and medically, and then we'll make a decision (in) probably a week or so, how we want to proceed. But I certainly believe that in the six quarters he's played, he certainly has earned consideration."

It's not just about winning a few more games to salvage a disappointing season. It's about winning or losing a locker room, donors and the fan base.

Fisch must walk the fine line between showing loyalty to his players while making sure each starter earns his spot.
